SUNRISE or SUNSET

A sunriser gives off energy, a sunsetter sucks it away.

I hate to take all of society and drop it into two categories, quite frankly it scares me, but I think that John is right. Think about the people in your life and it really isn’t that hard to tell if they are a sunriser or a sunsetting. Are the people around you enabling you and your ideas or are the disabling your thinking? There could be a common misconception of negative people vs positive people; but some of the most positive people are I know are actually sunsetters. There are few things worse that having your ideas torn down to pieces by a “happy-go-lucky.”

It’s not easy being a sunriser. Keeping yourself available and open whenever people around you speak, taking the time to listen, and making sure not to jerk react with simple responses that can absolutely take an idea from high noon to midnight in-between breaths can be difficult. You need to make a conscious decision to be a sunriser. You need to desire to enable those around you.

It is important to surround yourself with those that give off energy as frequently as you can.Otherwise the darkness tends to suffocate the light.

I find myself unexpectedly around allot of sunsetters recently; I’m working to change this. I desire to be a sunriser. Do you?

the art of the idea

From time to time you have the opportunity to read a book that changes your perspective on a subject. On an even more rare occasion you read a book that changes the way you think. Just recently I had the opportunity to read a book that changes the way I approach every aspect of my life. The book: The Art of the Idea: And How It Can Change Your Life by John Hunt.

I am currently reading through the book from start to finish for the fourth time. Every aspect of the book was put together with perfect detail. A small book, with lots of white space and only 130 pages it is an easy read, but author John Hunt has made sure that each word has meaning and impact.

Stay tuned as I will be blogging on nearly every chapter in the book, sharing my thoughts and how each chapter affects change and inspires innovation.
